Today’s launch marks a historic moment where technology meets India’s linguistic diversity.
What is Bhashini AI?
Bhashini is India’s indigenous AI project that enables real-time translation and communication in over 22 Indian languages.
- Voice-to-Voice Translation: A farmer in Punjab can now speak in Punjabi and be understood instantly by a government official in Tamil Nadu speaking in Tamil.
- Internet for Everyone: The platform aims to make the internet accessible to the 90% of Indians who do not speak English.
Key Highlights of the Launch:
- UPI Integration: Bhashini is being integrated with UPI, allowing users to make digital payments using voice commands in their mother tongue.
- Education & Health: Students in rural India can now access world-class educational content translated into their local dialect instantly.
- Global Reach: The government plans to export this technology to other multilingual nations in Southeast Asia and Africa.
